Every Feb. 7th, we come together to lift National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day— raising awareness to address the disproportionate impact of HIV on Black communities. Despite comprising only 13% of the U.S. population, Black individuals account for 43% of new HIV diagnoses and AIDS-related deaths (via Black AIDS Institute). In the ongoing fight against HIV, equal access to care and information is still crucial. Take a moment to hear from resilient members of the Center’s HIV support group, shedding light on their unique experiences and advocating for education and understanding within the Black community. #NBHAAD #BlackHistoryMonth

The Los Angeles LGBT Center extends its heartfelt condolences to those who have been loved, inspired, or held by @ceciliagentili72. A lifelong trans advocate and a pillar of the movement to decriminalize sex work in New York City, Gentili was affectionately referred to as a godmother by those who loved her. She recently enjoyed the release of her memoir, FALTAS, which she celebrated with a host of trans poets, writers, and artists at the Center last year. Our love extends to our New York LGBTQ+ family at this difficult and tragic time.

In commemoration of #BlackHistoryMonth, the Center is thrilled to host the inaugural Highly Favored mini ball on Saturday, Feb. 24 in Hollywood. We will honor the trailblazing lesbian entertainer @ravensymone by offering an Open to All (OTA) mini-ball curated by @thehouseofmarcjacobs —with inclusive categories, cash prizes, and a superstar roster of guest judges!
