| Start Here: One Center, Lots of Doors | The Los Angeles LGBT Center offers a wide range of programs and services, but knowing where to start can sometimes be the hardest part. This interactive workshop helps parents, caregivers, educators, and professionals learn how to connect LGBTQ+ people with the right resources, services, and support. Through real-world scenarios, participants will explore the many “doors” into the Center and leave knowing where to start when someone needs help. | The Campus Senior Center Dining Room |
| WHAT HAPPENS NEXT? Supporting the Parent, Relating to Your Queer Child, and Strengthening Connection | This 45-minute workshop offers parents a supportive, judgment-free space to explore the emotions and questions that can come with having a queer child. We’ll talk about the parent experience, deepen understanding of your child’s identity and perspective, and explore practical ways to communicate and stay connected. Start Small, Shine Big: Q&A with Social Influencer Freddie Chen |
Go behind the screen with @freddie__chen as she shares her journey as a social media influencer—from exciting milestones to everyday challenges and the journey she navigated to get there. Come learn about how Freddie balances life online with her personal well-being, and bring your own questions for this very special live Q&A! | The Village Renberg Theater |
| Breaking the Ice: Talking to LGBTQ+ Youth about Relationships | This workshop was created for caregivers of LGBTQ+ youth, providers, and providers who work with caregivers, to become equipped with information, strategies, and resources to be able to break the ice and talk openly about the signs of unhealthy relationships and provide help when youth disclose experiencing harm. After attending this workshop, participants will recognize that anyone can help reduce the rates of IPV for LGBTQ+ youth and effectively support youth survivors while doing it. | The Campus Senior Center Dining Room |
| Understanding Access to Gender Affirming Care for Transgender and Non-Binary Youth in California | This workshop will provide an overview of the current landscape of access to medical care for transgender and non-binary youth in California. Dr. Jo Olson Kennedy will share what she is doing in her new independent practice, Axiana, and how patients can access care there. This workshop will cover the history of provision of care drawing parallels to what we are currently experiencing. Additionally, this workshop will provide a legal overview of the past five years in the U.S. and the impact on providers, families, and you. Finally, California’s current laws and available care will be reviewed with an aim to dispel some of the abject myths and disinformation currently being disseminated at the federal level. | The Campus Senior Center Lounge (Upstairs) |
| Organizing & Mobilizing 101 | Learn about organizing from the Community Mobilization Team at the Los Angeles LGBT Center! Together, we will review the basics of organizing, including a brief history of LGBTQ+ organizing in LA, fundamentals of political education, base building, leadership models, strategies, and best practices. This workshop provides all participants with materials to engage throughout the workshop and beyond. By the end of this session participants will have the opportunity to engage in the Center’s organizing work. | The Campus Senior Center Activities Room |
