Pride, Resistance, Joy: Teaching Intersectional LGBTQ+ Histories | Presented by One Institute and the UCLA History-Geography Project, this program will equip participants with resources for teaching intersectional K-12 LGBTQ+ histories. Our team will share insights from our teacher and youth programs, explore our K-12 lessons plans – aligned to California’s History-Social Science Framework, and host open discussion on best practices for elevating LGBTQ+ histories in classrooms. | The Campus

Organizing Parent/Ally Groups to Combat Local Extremism | Members of Glendale USD Parents will share tactics and strategies for community organizing in defense of LGBTQ+ youth in a time of attacks on schools, libraries and inclusive programs. Coming Out and Going Out | In this workshop, adult allies to LGBTQ+ youth will learn about the signs of healthy and unhealthy relationships that are specific to LGBTQ+ youth. We will dive into how a youth’s LGBTQ+ identity can be used to abuse them by a dating partner and what bystanders can do to interrupt this pattern. Participants will leave feeling comfortable and capable to discuss relationships with LGBTQ+ youth. | The Campus

This interactive workshop presents attendees with the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of digital journalism in a special Q+A with Harvey Levin, the media mogul behind TMZ. Come learn about Harvey’s professional journey and ask your questions about digital and social media reporting. This cultural competency training meets the requirements that are set forth by AB 5: The Safe and Supportive Schools Act. |
